A certified infant massage teacher (CIMT) Liddle Kidz Foundation is not only an instructor, but also a parent educator who teaches the healing art of infant massage to parents or caregivers in the presence of their babies. The instructor usually does not massage your little one, the time spent teaching is meant for you as a caregiver to connect deeply with your child so as to build a lasting bond. Since touch is the very first sense to appear in utero, and is central to the rest of our senses, infant massage has great significance in its power to continue a bond once the baby is outside of the womb.
Additionally, the postnatal period is an important time for the mother-baby/caregiver connection to develop. As stated above, promoting mother-baby/caregiver bonding is just one of the wide range of benefits Infant Massage can offer. It is important to understand the differences between massage for adults and massage for infants. Learn the correct strokes, timing and length of massage. It is essential that the correct techniques are learned from a qualified instructor. Within the timeframe of the lessons you will learn about the areas to be avoided, the best oils to use and how much pressure to use. You will also learn how to understand your baby’s cues (non verbal or verbal body language) so that you can maximise the benefits of massage for your baby.
